Rise of the Technology Class

These conversations are between students from Ecuador, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the US who see technology serving a higher purpose: A counter-culture to their predecessors. This is evidence of a new type of generative class who apply technology to their creativity with art, music, science and involvement within the community. Their activity is transparent and active to our evolving civility. These multinational students are socially conscious storytellers. The Moderator of this conversation, Michael Davis is an Executive MBA graduate of Steinbeis University Germany, The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.

Samantha- YouTube, the world’s window

A few years ago we didn’t even know YouTube. Sometimes my friends were talking about videos, spots and series that we saw on the Internet. So one day i decided to go to YouTube. I was surprised by the amount of videos that people were uploading every day with the simple act of showing an event, a movie, a series, music videos etc.

From a minute to 10 minutes. Also, the content – some ridiculous –  from falls, accidents, memorable events that happen on television, around the world and amazing videos recorded with the cell, which as I said before, has become the major tool for information today.

YouTube’s impact on television and news programs has changed my source of information –  I view the content uploaded by people witnessing events such as violence, demonstrations, social and personal.

It has become literally “the window of the world” where we can see right now, what we can’t see on television, where people can express themselves openly to millions of people.

People who set trends such as the little boy known as Edgar and his now famous “ya wey”, which falls on a precarious bridge to a river – or the famous execution of Saddam Hussein. The wonder of Youtube is that it combines forces of media, especially the mobile phone to record historical events that we could not witness otherwise. Becuase of the YouTube, we capture moments that are now imperishable!
