Rise of the Technology Class

These conversations are between students from Ecuador, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the US who see technology serving a higher purpose: A counter-culture to their predecessors. This is evidence of a new type of generative class who apply technology to their creativity with art, music, science and involvement within the community. Their activity is transparent and active to our evolving civility. These multinational students are socially conscious storytellers. The Moderator of this conversation, Michael Davis is an Executive MBA graduate of Steinbeis University Germany, The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.

Michael – “Iran, the cell phone revolution”

6a00d83451c45669e20115701fad26970c-500wiAs the world watches and listens to historic change in Iran, I wonder if the protesters really know how far their media has traveled. Their access to the internet  is blocked. Only a few foreign journalists have been allowed to stay and reporting is limited. The images of young people banded together for a common cause are quite compelling.

For some of the authors on this blog, this is the first massive movement of activism you have noticed with global impact.

Picture 3“You” emerged more than a few years ago as the hero for Time Magazine’s person of the year. (2006) Citizen journalism or “participatory journalism” is not necessarily new by technology timelines.

The dramatic footage sent by mostly young people from Iran tell a story deeper than civil protest. There is no violence in this movie file. Turn up the volume. Listen to the story. This is one long continuous shot from a mobile phone, traveling along the street during protest. It is about technology.  It is their primary link to the outside world for expression. These are authentic stories that have crossed all channels and platforms using all types of media.

Kaito – Do you forget we are connected?

Untitled-1

Culture. It is a very good word.

Around the world. How many websites you can tell about the culture? Too many. I find a popular site, to share with my friends. It is – J! – ENT for pop culture, fashion, music, talks and entertainment.

It is for all countries. People’s lives and the way we are talking. I have to travel to countries in Europe, America and India.

Today this information = statement of thanks to the computer and I think our precious mobile phone.

I know about the world with a connection to the Internet. If no internet I would not know this place.

I as born in Pamplona/Iruña (Navarra/Nafarroa) the 29th of june 1993.
Now, I live in a small town called Orihuela/Oriola, situated in Alicante, south-east of Spain.

I like music, going to the cinema, reading, watching TV, skiing (I go skiing every year, I love skiing), swimming, going snorkeling, riding on bike, playing computer games.

I love the beach (I go to the beach every weekend and on holidays), I love the mountain too.

I rarely buy computer games, I download them on the internet.

Spanish films aren’t very good. I don’t  normally see Spanish films, I prefer hollybood films, but many of those films are very unreal.

I listen to Spanish music, but also a lot of music in English. I like all kind of music, no, sorry, I don´t like house and reggae – but especially like rock, hard rock, SKA, heavy. I like Mago D e Oz, Marea, Boikot…and many others.

On TV, I see Spanish programs, like “Salvados”, “Buenafuente”, “El Intermedio” and “Qué vida más triste”. I normally see American films. I see some TV series like “Aida”, “Aquí no hay Quien Viva” and American series like House, CSI and Criminal Minds.

I really enjoy reading. I like Harry Potter, like Samantha. My Spanish literature and language teacher is Rosa Cáceres, and she´s a writer. I’ve read one of her books and she writes very good. My fauvorite writers are Dan Brown, J.K Rowling, Ken follet, Tolkien and Ildefonso Falcones.

One of the best books I have read is “The sea cathedral”.

The story happens in Barcelona in the middle ages

Caridad – My musical tastes

I like a bit of everything. Classical music such as Beethoven and Mozart; Spanish pop music – The Rosario Flores, Pignoise; Irish pop music – The Script. Telenovelas’s music; “Las tontas no van al cielo,” “pasion de gavilanes,” “rebelte way.”; The typical music of the Disney factory; High School Musical, Hanna Montana, Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Alyson Stoner.

The kind of music I like most is the English pop; Leona Lewis, Ashley Tisdale, Craig Davis, Hilary Duff, Taylor Swift and many more.

*Telenovela: a series with great drama and it always leaves you wanting more. And this is because they leave you with the curiosity of what will happen in the next chapter.

Kaito – ABC’s of Social Media Video. Funny.

Cesar – Windows VS. Mac

Ok, i want to get a count of what you all think , what is better Windows or (eww) Mac. people say that mac is more techy and such, but i think that windows is more versatile and cuztomizabel…………..i dont know i wanna hear your opinion

Michael – Innovation vs. Invention

VHS Tapes?

This is hand-drawn

All of it. It’s not a photo and was recently created by an artist. I’m still trying to find the artist. So, someone will be drawing CD covers in 10 years since we download all our music. I am sure innovation trumps invention. With every new device people think the world will change overnight. The iPhone could be an exception. Things did change overnight. Otherwise, very few inventions changed the world as quickly. There was another tape format that looked just like these VHS tapes called “Betacam.” It didn’t last for home use, but was a breakthrough format for documentary makers and television stations. Most of us are innovators. Occasionally we think of something simple that hasn’t been made before. As this blog populates with more of you, discuss your innovation here. One of you will invent something new someday. The innovation that you collaborate with others will probably lead you there. Bill Gates. Steve Jobs. Sergei Brin. Inventors or Innovators? Or just great leaders?
