Rise of the Technology Class

These conversations are between students from Ecuador, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the US who see technology serving a higher purpose: A counter-culture to their predecessors. This is evidence of a new type of generative class who apply technology to their creativity with art, music, science and involvement within the community. Their activity is transparent and active to our evolving civility. These multinational students are socially conscious storytellers. The Moderator of this conversation, Michael Davis is an Executive MBA graduate of Steinbeis University Germany, The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.

Caridad – electronic pets not good for children

The evolution of technology has led to interactive pets.pet1

They have changed much over the years, from toys, to robots that talk to you as they interact, to other dolls that tell a story if you prefer, etc.

pet2There are many types: dogs, cats, birds, monkeys,  robots and even invented animals! These toys are designed to entertain children? Or adults? And they have large amounts of circuitry whose power supply is usually a battery or rechargeable battery.

I think that young children are more exposed to these robot toys and other consoles at increasingly younger ages. I do not think this is an appropriate way for for children to interact! In my opinion, this is not healthy.

Here is one that serves drinks!

Samantha – Silvestre Revueltas, our proud…

Today i want to talk about a very important person who was an artist and who was also from Santiago Papasquiaro Durango. His name is Silvestre Revueltas Sánchez, better known as “Silvestre Revueltas”.

He was born in Santiago Papasquiaro Durango, on December the 31st of 1899. He was a composer, musician, violinist and an orchest director. Revueltas is the greatest mexican composer. The oldest son of a family who had very important artist for mexican culture.

When he was young he went to study to the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica in Mexico. His music was very important around the world like Adagio, Danza geométrica, and others. He was inspired by the music of Claude Debussy. Silvestre traveled around the world and he lived in USA for a long time. But he died in Mexico city in October 5th of 1940.

On my opinion he was the best composer of America, when i hear his music, its like been in another time, so romantic, and strong at the same time, its something different, and most important of all is the fact that he is part of me and part of all the Santiago People. You shoul listen his music, i think you would like it.

Jacqueline – music, music, music!

I can’t say that I dislike music but I can’t also say that it has any impact on me, well not contemporary music that’s for sure. The music I’ve been listening to hasn’t really done anything to change what I think or how I feel.

The music that is played right now is very moronic. Nothing makes any sense in today’s music…just about how people feel when they break-up and how every relationship and its break-up was different from the other. The relationship songs are nonsense and almost every artist’s songs are all relationship song, it really doesn’t have a story to it, rather than something that says “I love you take me back” and the next song about the same person saying, “You hurt me and I want you away from me.” I’m so tired of it. Listening to the same thing over and over again, I’ve decided to start listening to some older stuff. I mean my friends were listening to them and my dad is such a huge fan of all those classic artist, so what’s gonna hurt if i listen to them.

zelinI remember hanging out with my dad when I was little, maybe around 7 or 8 and the first bands I have ever listened to were bands like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and the very very first one was The Beatles. There was something about those bands that really got to me.

There was some sort of a strange but amazing vibe that I got from listening to them and I really enjoyed it. This went went on utill I started seventh grade, then I kind of turned away from it. It is such a shame that I walked away from that part of my life. But since seventh grade my brain was rotten with such toxin tunes. Like I said, it’s not all bad but it is to a point where it’s just pure garbage.

I guess where I am trying to go with this is that music changes through every generation and the more it changes the more and more it’s just plain trash.

“The Doors- People Are Strange”

“Miley Cyrus- The 7 Things I Hate About You”

You be the judge.  Miley or The Doors?

Cristo – Nit de Sant Joan (The night of San Juan )

Six months after Christmas is celebrated the arrival of the summer solstice during the shortest night of the year. The feast of St. Juan Bautista is celebrated that day, June 24.

June 24th was the birth of San Juan. Ever since that night was identified as the night of San Juan, which coincides with the summer solstice and has inherited a number of practices, rituals, traditions and customs. Ever since the June 24 date is celebrated the birth of John the Baptist.

In the Night of San Juan is customary to give a walk on fire. Devotees prepare roads embers of two meters long and walk barefoot on them without damage. The celebration is accompanied with dances, meals and drinks.

> The big star of the night of San Juan is the fire, aiming not only to pay tribute to the sun, but also purify the sins of man.

Karla – The Evolution

The function of the Honda Clarity

The function of the Honda Clarity

My dad was always a car fan, actually my whole family has always had an obsession with cars. Since I became part of YTC, I think i have become more of a car lover. I loved becoming part of a group that had a function to it. Unlike other groups in school, the Cyber Service actually provided a service to the community besides helping itself. I mean you look at other clubs after school, and they were moslty social groups, besides the math clubs and all that. This group actually has a mission, not only to be part of a whole community around the world to enhance our possibilities with technology, but help the community, those left behind, to come with us as well. By helping the kids in town like Cicero, where there is a ton of diversity, we see that the ones that have the easiest reach to technology are not the only ones to enhance it.
The whole idea of an organization like this taught me that there’s more to our selfish ideals of advancement. Technology is sufficient only when the people know how to use it, when it becomes available, and it easily sensed by the public who is willing to invest in it. I mean, a big example is cars. Now with the whole recession thing in the US, and the whole environmental concern, people need to find technologies that support both their pockets and their thirst to conserve the environment. Overall, I have learned to appreciate the technology changes. Before it was not a question of, “Ohh, that’s too expensive, who’s gonna buy that?” My mentallity now is, “Wow, that’s good, I wonder just how much time it needs to become affordable, and is able to reach the community.”
