Rise of the Technology Class

These conversations are between students from Ecuador, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the US who see technology serving a higher purpose: A counter-culture to their predecessors. This is evidence of a new type of generative class who apply technology to their creativity with art, music, science and involvement within the community. Their activity is transparent and active to our evolving civility. These multinational students are socially conscious storytellers. The Moderator of this conversation, Michael Davis is an Executive MBA graduate of Steinbeis University Germany, The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.

Nikolas – Music

I love Music. My dad is in the music business and plays multiple instruments and I have been exposed to so many different types of music and I have seen the worldly effect it has. I myself do not play an instrument, god knows I’ve tried, but it has just never worked out. I am more of a music collector I would say. I am finding new stuff daily and have branched out to every type of music possible, except country, that is just terrible. I love finding new songs and artists and me and my friends are always exchanging new findings with each other.

With new advances in technology it has been extremely easy to be exposed to and to find new music with ease. iTunes is my go-to source and is great because it gives me recommendations to other songs or artists I might like. I use Internet sources also, Pandora is one of the websites I like. I am on these sources all of the time and go to many other places to. With out my computer or the Internet I would have never been able to get to the point where I am at now.  I have around 9000 songs and counting and I am eager to find more. It is a huge part of my life and I do not know what I would do without it.

“A day without music is a day lost.” – James Brown (one of my favorite artists) https://i1.wp.com/www.htzfm.com/files/htzfm/images/james%20brown.jpg

Jacqueline – music, music, music!

I can’t say that I dislike music but I can’t also say that it has any impact on me, well not contemporary music that’s for sure. The music I’ve been listening to hasn’t really done anything to change what I think or how I feel.

The music that is played right now is very moronic. Nothing makes any sense in today’s music…just about how people feel when they break-up and how every relationship and its break-up was different from the other. The relationship songs are nonsense and almost every artist’s songs are all relationship song, it really doesn’t have a story to it, rather than something that says “I love you take me back” and the next song about the same person saying, “You hurt me and I want you away from me.” I’m so tired of it. Listening to the same thing over and over again, I’ve decided to start listening to some older stuff. I mean my friends were listening to them and my dad is such a huge fan of all those classic artist, so what’s gonna hurt if i listen to them.

zelinI remember hanging out with my dad when I was little, maybe around 7 or 8 and the first bands I have ever listened to were bands like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and the very very first one was The Beatles. There was something about those bands that really got to me.

There was some sort of a strange but amazing vibe that I got from listening to them and I really enjoyed it. This went went on utill I started seventh grade, then I kind of turned away from it. It is such a shame that I walked away from that part of my life. But since seventh grade my brain was rotten with such toxin tunes. Like I said, it’s not all bad but it is to a point where it’s just pure garbage.

I guess where I am trying to go with this is that music changes through every generation and the more it changes the more and more it’s just plain trash.

“The Doors- People Are Strange”

“Miley Cyrus- The 7 Things I Hate About You”

You be the judge.  Miley or The Doors?

Pamela – Small tip for your Windows notepad

Tech tip from Pamela:

Notepad

Who knew the humble Windows Notepad was capable of anything other than, well, taking text only notes.

If you’re searching for a simple application to write a diary or take daily notes, look no further than Notepad. Or of course you can always post here, at the Rise of the technology class. Hopefully we are always your first choice.

Other than that you can refer to windows humble application.

Well, with this tip you can make notepad automatically add the current day and time to a document as soon as you open it and save you the headache of doing so yourself.

To accomplish this:

1. Open Notepad

2. Type “.LOG” on the first line of the new document

3. Save the file and close Notepad

Now when you open the same file again, you’ll see that Notepad would have added the current Date and time to the document automatically.

Or you can always press F5  😀

I think that’s the easiest way.  But if you like complicated, go ahead and try the long way.

Pamela – I met the Eggman

Hi everyone, I know you haven’t so much about me and here is an opportunity for me to get you to know me.

For the past few years I’ve been a Beatles fan –proud of it 🙂 —

As I was surfing the net I found this awesome introduction video from the new 360 game The Beatles Rock band :D.

To be honest I haven’t played the video game.. but I’m dying to do so. I heard it has some really good songs 🙂 such as:
Day Tripper
Here comes the sun
I am the Walrus!!
I want to hold your hand
and of course
Octopus’s Garden

I hope you like it, and let me know how it goes! 😀

Cristo – Society and Technology

Society has changed a lot in thirty years thanks to technology, which improves living standards (access), but unfortunately not everyone has this level of life. (money)
Responsible use of technology is the most important issue. Uncontrolled use of technology can cause much harm, so I think it is more important to understand the “responsible use of technology.”
