Rise of the Technology Class
These conversations are between students from Ecuador, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the US who see technology serving a higher purpose: A counter-culture to their predecessors. This is evidence of a new type of generative class who apply technology to their creativity with art, music, science and involvement within the community. Their activity is transparent and active to our evolving civility. These multinational students are socially conscious storytellers. The Moderator of this conversation, Michael Davis is an Executive MBA graduate of Steinbeis University Germany, The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.Archive for videogames
Caridad – electronic pets not good for children

The evolution of technology has led to interactive pets.
They have changed much over the years, from toys, to robots that talk to you as they interact, to other dolls that tell a story if you prefer, etc.
There are many types: dogs, cats, birds, monkeys, robots and even invented animals! These toys are designed to entertain children? Or adults? And they have large amounts of circuitry whose power supply is usually a battery or rechargeable battery.
I think that young children are more exposed to these robot toys and other consoles at increasingly younger ages. I do not think this is an appropriate way for for children to interact! In my opinion, this is not healthy.
Here is one that serves drinks!

Some of my friends in the US do not know how much the center of culture can start in Tokyo. Imagine please New York, Paris, London, Berlin and San Paulo all of them in to one city. That is Tokyo. Japan is an island. It is difficult for Western people to make the trip. Culture in form of art and music begin here and develops. Invents itself. Yes, we are also the influence of the eastern and western world culture. The force of artistic culture is so powerful here that it is feeling more than the technology advances of our culture. Please see the following link for a new movement to share artistic talent through expression and content. Thank you very much.

Samantha – Videogames vs. Music

A few days ago i read an article about the industry of videogames and music. Its true that the people actually is looking for a new type of fun to spend on his free times. But what really caught my attention was the fact of the rising of the sales of video-games and the decrease of the record sales. This is happening because, according to the article, people looks for a story, for imagination to live with, could be able to participate on that stories, above a record with a few good songs. I don’t know if that happens to me but im sure that at least one of us has been dreaming with a new game of Xbox 360 or PS3 instead of the new album of Rhianna. Take your choice…
David – Special effects in the cinema

Special effects are divided into the categories of optical effects and mechanical effects.
Years ago, people were really impressive for the special effects in some films because the cinematographs used to use mechanical effects. Now, there are many films (usually blockbusters, films with a very big production budget) that use the special effects because are more comfortable. But there is the problem, optical effects are very expensive.

What do you think that is more suitable? Optical effects or mechanical effects?
I think that the best is use a mixture of optical and mechanical effects. The results are more realistic. I have just seen “Hellboy” and I like the use of this mixture, is really awesome.

One of the biggest things I do not like about technology is that they keep coming out with better versions of things and updating features so quickly. Sure its good to make progress, but the companies could space it out a little. Like you save up for an iphone for a year and you finally get one and you go running to brag and show it to your friends and there like, pshh you got the old version, your lame. Its really not fair. And people always say wait for the next version to come out to buy it, but there is never really a final version is there? You just have to choose which version you want and settle for that model. This is not just with phones, but cars, video games, mp3′s and computers.

Michael – Innovation vs. Invention

This is hand-drawn
All of it. It’s not a photo and was recently created by an artist. I’m still trying to find the artist. So, someone will be drawing CD covers in 10 years since we download all our music. I am sure innovation trumps invention. With every new device people think the world will change overnight. The iPhone could be an exception. Things did change overnight. Otherwise, very few inventions changed the world as quickly. There was another tape format that looked just like these VHS tapes called “Betacam.” It didn’t last for home use, but was a breakthrough format for documentary makers and television stations. Most of us are innovators. Occasionally we think of something simple that hasn’t been made before. As this blog populates with more of you, discuss your innovation here. One of you will invent something new someday. The innovation that you collaborate with others will probably lead you there. Bill Gates. Steve Jobs. Sergei Brin. Inventors or Innovators? Or just great leaders?
